Hungary is donating 455,000 COVID antigen rapid diagnostic tests to Moldova, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Friday in a video message posted on Facebook.
Szijjártó said Moldova “faces serious challenges” due to the war in Ukraine, as several hundred thousand refugees have entered the country and nearly 100,000 currently reside there. “Testing these refugees for COVID in the interest of stopping the spread of the pandemic requires serious efforts from the Moldovan health authorities, so we are supporting them with 455,000 rapid antigen tests,” he said. added.
The minister said Hungary was also donating 72,000 tests to North Macedonia and 30,000 to Montenegro to support pandemic defense in the Western Balkans.
