TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – As we move closer to the post-pandemic period, with society slowly returning to normal, many are looking for ways to relieve stress. That’s why Jason Krauss and his wife Lindsey are big fans of a good tank. They have spent years going to the Levity Wellness Center located at 2272 E Speedway Boulevard.
When the owner put the business up for sale last April, he had to buy it. That’s because Jason says floating has helped him fight anxiety, stress, and more. You enter one of the two therapy tanks, one is completely closed and the other not so much.
“It has worked for me and countless others. Floating has helped me in many ways from a physical standpoint to learn how to relax better. As well as helping me to recover physically from a spine surgery as well as opioid addiction after this spine surgery. ”Jason said.
“It’s a floating room for a more open experience as you can see, we have a glass door that’s more of an oversized tub. Then across the room we have the traditional sensory deprivation tank, ”Lindsey said.
Then you float in 12 inches of body-temperature water with 900 pounds of Epsom salt, Lindsey says the salt is used to improve your mood, blood pressure, skin, and hair. The weightless experience attracts people from all walks of life, they also have an infrared sauna to help you relax.
“Each float is prolific in its own way. This therapy is useful for a number of things mainly PTSD stress depression. It’s a reservoir full of salt water and nothingness and that’s kind of what we all need. Because there is something special about this nothing. There’s a chance to relax a chance to breathe a chance not to be on your screen or answer emails or phones or just the hectic chaotic nature of life, ”Jason said.
It also takes about an hour to properly clean the space after each float.
“Salt water goes through a very intensive filtration process that takes at least 30 minutes. We wipe down everything from handles and doorknobs to any spray bottle you might need to use. The whole room is wiped from ceiling to floor, ”Lindsey mentioned.
Whether you are looking to get rid of that sore back or get rid of the bulkiness, floating is an option.
“We have had an individual in the last few weeks who had a separate rib and couldn’t get him back after about 15 minutes in the tank he came back to, he said he could catch his breath for the first time. times in a few weeks. For a lot of veterans consensus is a sense of calm, it gives the individual an idea of what peace looks like and if it is repeatable, he can sometimes find it outside of the tank, ”Jason said. .
Levity is just one of three Tucson floating sites that offer this service. The owners are looking to extend the hours of operation in the future.
“If that piques your curiosity, if you have chronic pain or something involving mental illness. If you just want to relax, I tell people all the time you have to come and try it, ”Lindsey said.
