Benbow retained to lead behavioral services at StoneSprings Hospital

StoneSprings Hospital Center has appointed Cynthia Benbow as Executive Director of Behavioral Services.

She will oversee the new behavioral health inpatient and outpatient unit, which will treat people with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behavioral health crises related to other mental health issues. The clinic will have a team of psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, mental health technicians and licensed professional counselors.

For the past 20 years, Benbow has served as Director of Clinical Operations at the Research Psychiatric Center in Kansas City, MO. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in social work and an MBA with a specialization in health care administration.

The inpatient unit and behavioral health outpatient clinic, totaling 9,176 square feet, are under construction in the existing space on the Aldie Hospital campus. Their opening is scheduled for this fall.

“I am grateful to join such a community driven team,” said Benbow. “Having both a clinic and inpatient facilities dedicated to mental health gives us the resources to assess and treat patients while keeping them close to home and the support of family and friends. “

“Cynthia has a long history of working in mental health to develop evidence-based treatment services for inpatients and outpatients,” said Nathan Vooys, CEO of StoneSprings Hospital. “Under his leadership, we will address a recognized need in our community for more accessible mental health services.”
